Founded on the principal belief that we increase our benefit to the world around us by celebrating the diversity of our community, rather than imposing the artificial strictures of dogma, doctrine and gatekeeping, the Contemplative Order of Compassion Sanctuary provides esoteric, metaphysical and practitioners of the mystical spiritual traditions with a home.
While we were founded in the Esoteric Catholic Tradition, which precedes the founding of the institutional Catholic and Orthodox Churches; we reject the corruption of patriarchy, the imposition of creed and dogma, and all the injustices that have been brought on cultures and societies around the world, through the evils of colonisation, racism, misogyny, xenophobia and homophobia.
Most importantly, we provide sanctuary for those who find the sacramental sanctity that comes from living authentic lives, guided by the principles of bodily autonomy, compassion and love.
Because we recognise the inherent sanctity of all genders, all sexual orientations and the solemn time-honoured spiritual tradition of blessing the autonomous decisions made by those who may bear children or thoughtfully choose to terminate their pregnancies; we will always be a protected sanctuary for those threatened by malicious attempts to impose governmental interference in the spiritual and religious lives and choices of our members.
We are an open and affirming spiritual community in every way.
We recognise that unconditional love and acceptance is a transformative experience, which opens hearts and minds and heals lives.
As postmodern, post-religious, Esoteric Catholic spiritual practitioners, we never ask you to leave any part of your authentic Self outside our doors — including your commitment to political and social justice, gender equity and bodily autonomy.
We invite you to learn more about us through the links below.
Seeking to diminish the internalised hostility, self-loathing and doubts that can often occur in the face of a society whose heteronormative ideology can produce homophobic, transphobic and socially unjust attitudes toward the Queer community, we consciously choose to affirm our identity as a Queer-centric Spiritual Community.
We are an esoteric contemplative post-Christian community, established in the unbroken succession of the apostles and built upon the sensibilities of early Christian theological diversity and “monasticism of the desert fathers and desert mothers”.
Deconstruction is a spiritual and intellectual process of questioning the untenable, irrational, theologically primitive and often unethical dogmatic and doctrinal beliefs we once held as unquestionable. We consider our community to be post-Catholic, post-Christian and deconstructionist.
The Eucharistic Mystery Tradition, also known as Catholic Esotericism, represents a rich and complex series of philosophies, spiritual practices, and beliefs that have, for centuries, influenced the societal, artistic, and intellectual spheres of Western culture.
We invite you to live in an environment that supports a happier, healthier life, celebrating who you authentically are. Join our spiritual community and bring your practice to life.
There are two ways to become part of the Contemplative Order of Compassion.
Consecrated life within the Contemplative Order of Compassion is unique from many other types of Catholic religious orders.
While we welcome all people, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity and culture, our consecrated life is reserved for those regarded by many spiritual traditions as “set apart” from the mainstream.
The Contemplative Order of Compassion Sanctuary, Ltd is a recognised 501(c)3 religious institution and public charity. Your generous tax-deductible donations are appreciated and help us continue our work.
